Oaklandish Crane /

The comminsioned piece completed for an Oakland clothing company, Oaklandish, for their flagship shop. These furniture pieces were  inspired by the iconic shipping yard cranes. These cranes have been a source of creation for the likes of Lucus and many San Francisco artist. Oaklandish had reclaimed boards of mahogany in their basement. With this wood,  instead of something polished, they wanted a rustic, modern, and yet multifunctional furniture grouping that could be used as both seating and merchandising settings. The Crane furniture is not only mulitfunctional, it has turned a storefront into a capable work station of limitless possibilities.

The Oaklandish Crane Furniture  was  created by taking the store owners desire to use existing wood and  pipe to bring customers in contact with the  materials which make up the flagship location. The unfinished wood and hard piping crates a prefect canvas by which the owner can merchandise her own wares. Crane looks as though it has been a part of the store's facad since the start. It is a beautiful addition to the landscape without detracting from the customers ability to actively interact with the store and each other.
